The KSSH is requesting that the Ministry of Justice determine the independent candidate lists.

State Election Commission Submits Technical Observations on Electoral Code Amendments

The State Election Commission (SEC) has provided its feedback to the working group within the Ministry of Justice currently revising the Electoral Code. The observations relate to several key areas, including the determination of issues for candidate lists, particularly concerning recent independent candidacies established during local elections, and the operational costs of electoral boards. Chairman Bojan Mariçiq announced the SEC’s involvement, stating that the commission was invited to offer its opinion rather than participating directly in the working group.

“We held a meeting with Minister Filkov and presented a detailed assessment,” Mariçiq explained. “This culminated in a written document containing over 15 observations focused on the technical aspects of ensuring the functionality of the electoral process.”

The SEC’s input addresses a range of technical considerations, including procedures for independent candidacies and the operational framework of electoral boards. The comments are intended to refine the amendments within the broader context of the Ministry of Justice’s efforts to modernize election regulations.

Further details regarding the specific observations are expected to be released shortly.
