A Ukrainian drone struck a warehouse belonging to Wildberries in Krasny Bor, Russia, resulting in significant structural damage to the facility. This incident occurs as the company is actively expanding its logistics footprint outside of Russian borders. Wildberries is undertaking substantial development in Kazakhstan, planning to establish new warehousing capacity exceeding 260,000 square meters.
According to the Kazakh Minister of Trade, specific projects include a warehouse near Almaty with an area surpassing 100,000 square meters, and a second facility in Astana under construction with an area of 160,000 square meters. These new logistics centers are anticipated to commence operations early next year. Furthermore, the company currently leases approximately 46,000 square meters of warehouse space within Kazakhstan.
This strategic expansion outside of Russia follows a period where Wildberries experienced reductions in its domestic storage capacity due to drone attacks within Russia. The move signals a significant shift in the company’s operational focus toward bolstering its international logistics network.
