The new Mercedes-Maybach GLS debuts with more power and better style

Mercedes-Benz is preparing to introduce a new Maybach variant following the update to its three-row SUV lineup. The upcoming 2027 Maybach GLS 680 is scheduled for release later this year, featuring enhancements across its exterior, powertrain, and interior, according to Telegrafi. The centerpiece of the update is the revised engine.

It is equipped with Mercedes’ latest 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, designated the M1770 Evo. This powerplant generates 603 horsepower, marking an increase of 53 horsepower over the previous model. The V8 engine incorporates electrification via a second-generation starter generator.

Beyond the powertrain, the Maybach has received several updates to its chassis and cabin. Mercedes has revised the vehicle’s steering system, and the model comes standard with Airmatic air suspension. Furthermore, buyers will have the option to select the new E-Active body control system, allowing for enhanced ride management.

Overall, the Mercedes brand is positioning the Maybach GLS 680 as a significantly upgraded luxury offering. These refinements aim to enhance performance and refinement while maintaining the premium status expected from the Maybach line.
