The “painful” reaction of Albania to the Ibar River continues to level baseless accusations against Kosovo.

President Aleksandar Vučić has reiterated criticisms concerning Kosovo, specifically regarding the handling of the Serb community and the governance of Kosovo’s institutions. These statements followed reactions originating in Albania, which were prompted by Vučić’s earlier assertions that Serbia was contemplating the possibility of diverting the flow of the Ibar River. Addressing the matter of the Ibar, Vučić emphasized that the issue falls under Serbia’s internal jurisdiction.

Speaking about the Radio Television of Serbia (RTS), he stated that the question of the Ibar is strictly a “domestic matter” for Serbia, questioning what connection the river’s status has to Albania. He asserted, “It is our domestic matter. I do not know what connection the Ibar has to Albania.”

Furthermore, Vučić directed attention to the Ribariqi area, advising that Serbia must first thoroughly assess the situation there before determining any subsequent actions.

These pronouncements underscore the ongoing diplomatic tensions surrounding the region. The discussions involving the Ibar River remain a focal point in the broader political dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo, drawing international attention to the dispute’s implications for regional stability.
