The Prosecutor’s Office requests pre-trial procedures against four suspects in Skopje

A public prosecutor representing the Department for Minors of the Public Prosecution of Basic Public Prosecution in Skopje has formally requested that the competent judge for children initiate preliminary proceedings against several minors. The initial request pertains to two 14-year-old girls, who are suspected by the Public Prosecution of committing an act legally classified as “Assault.”

Furthermore, the prosecutor has requested preliminary proceedings for an additional 15-year-old, who is suspected of providing assistance in the commission of the alleged crime. This individual, along with another 14-year-old minor, is facing charges related to “Unauthorized Loitering,” citing Article 152, Paragraph 1 of the Penal Code.

The underlying incident reportedly took place on April 30. According to the filing, the group of girls was involved in an incident at a playground located behind a commercial center, where the charges of assault were allegedly committed. The filing represents a formal step by the state’s legal apparatus.

The prosecutor’s office is tasked with gathering evidence and determining the appropriate legal path for each minor involved. The initiation of preliminary proceedings marks the beginning of the judicial process, where the court will assess the merits of the allegations brought forward by the prosecution. The objective of this legal action is to investigate the alleged offenses—assault, aiding and abetting, and unauthorized loitering—against the involved youths.
