The US could give Ukraine a license to produce Patriot missiles

Donald Trump indicated that the United States could grant Ukraine a license to produce Patriot missiles. According to reports, the suggestion was made during discussions concerning the delivery timelines for existing U.S.-made missile supplies. Speaking to Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump mentioned the possibility of enabling Ukraine to manufacture the advanced defensive weaponry domestically.

He stated, “One of the things we will talk about is… we will give you a license to produce Patriot. This is very interesting.”

Trump emphasized the positive nature of his relationship with the Ukrainian President.

He suggested that allowing Ukraine to self-supply the equipment would alleviate any concerns regarding the quantity of aid provided. “In this way, you cannot complain that we are not giving enough. I say you do it yourselves,” he added.

The discussion highlighted a potential shift in the nature of military support, moving toward enabling local industrial capacity. The former president later made a lighthearted remark suggesting that the relevant companies had not yet been notified of this potential arrangement. The core message conveyed is that the U.S.

might authorize Ukraine to establish the means to manufacture Patriot systems, thereby supplementing current military aid efforts. This proposal centers on facilitating Ukrainian self-sufficiency in defense technology, contingent on the granting of the necessary operational license.
