Toshkovski-Chrisochoidis: RSM and Greece ready to strengthen the war against organized crime, drug trafficking, and illegal migration

Toshkovski Leads Akab Process Meeting Addressing Transnational Threats

Athens, Greece – Minister of Interior Panče Toshkovski today chaired the inaugural session of the Akab Process ministerial meeting, focused on combating organized crime and terrorism within the Balkans. The meeting, held in Athens, brought together regional leaders to address the complex challenges of illicit activities. A key focus of the discussion centered on the interconnectedness of threats, specifically examining the relationships between organized crime, drug trafficking, and terrorism.

Participants identified a significant shift in the security landscape, with these issues increasingly intertwined and operating as a unified, hybrid danger. During his address, Toshkovski highlighted the need for a revised approach to security. He stated, “Today we can no longer treat crime and terrorism as separate phenomena.

They are part of the same mechanism that relies on common channels, finance, and logistics and seeks a response.”

The Akab Process aims to strengthen cooperation and intelligence sharing among member states in the fight against transnational criminal networks. Discussions centered on identifying and disrupting these networks, with a particular emphasis on understanding their sophisticated operational methods. Minister Toshkovski’s leadership underscored the importance of a coordinated regional strategy to address the evolving threat of organized crime.
