Trajkov: EU expansion is a geopolitical necessity and a strategic priority for Macedonia

Minister for European Affairs, Viktorija Trajkov, is currently undertaking a working visit to Brussels. During an evening roundtable discussion hosted by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation’s Europe Office, Deputy Minister Trajkov addressed high-level participants regarding the trajectory of the European Union. Trajkov emphasized that the ongoing expansion of the European Union is viewed not merely as a political aspiration but as a geopolitical necessity and a critical strategic instrument for the bloc.

She underscored the continued importance of integration for Macedonia, stating that European integration remains the nation’s foremost strategic priority. According to Trajkov, the country’s governmental policies are fundamentally centered on the comprehensive Reform Agenda. She detailed that achieving deep structural reforms is viewed as an essential investment in the nation’s future stability and the improvement of citizen welfare.

The key areas targeted by these reforms include strengthening the rule of law, modernizing public administration, enhancing economic governance structures, driving digital transformation, and ensuring institutional transparency across government levels.
