US and Iran reach deal, says Trump and Pakistani PM

Donald Trump has announced that agreements have been reached with Iran, asserting that the Strait of Hormuz will reopen and that the United States will lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports. In a statement, the American leader declared, “The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!

I am fully authorizing the free opening of the Strait of Hormuz and, at the same time, authorizing the immediate lifting of the United States naval blockade. Ships of the world, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”

Separately, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, announced a separate agreement between Pakistan and an unnamed party.

Sharif stated that both sides have agreed to an immediate and permanent end to military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. He added that the official signing ceremony for this agreement is scheduled for Friday, June 19, in Switzerland. Sharif also thanked the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their commitment to finding a diplomatic resolution to the conflicts.

As of the time of reporting, Iran had not issued a reaction to Trump’s announcement regarding the deal with the US.
