Veleshnja Resort reacts to Lab’s initiative for Shpat Kasapi’s son: The family has never requested public aid

Singer Labinot Tahiri’s decision to collect 150 euros at every wedding and music event where he performs for Roel, the son of the late Shpat Kasapi, has generated notable public discussion. In response to Tahiri’s announcement, actor Rezart Veleshnja, a close friend of Shpat, offered a statement via an Instagram Story. Veleshnja confirmed that he maintains ongoing contact with the family of the late artist.

According to Veleshnja, Shpat’s mother, Gjylymsere Kasapi, and his brother, Albin Kasapi, have not requested public financial assistance. He emphasized that the family’s personal dignity precludes them from seeking such public support. While Veleshnja stated that any form of assistance for Roel is acceptable, he cautioned against the practice of linking personal donations to public appeals made in the name of the Kasapi family.

His remarks suggest that while charitable support is welcome, it should not be framed as a necessary obligation attached to public performances. The commentary from Veleshnja provides a counterpoint to the fundraising efforts initiated by Tahiri. The discussion highlights the tension between public displays of support and the private autonomy of the bereaved family regarding the estate and welfare of Shpat Kasapi’s heir.
