Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani visited the Republic of Kosovo for the first time on Saturday, attending the inauguration of new President Vitinë. Osmani, who also serves as the president of the Vitisë community, met with President Mirali Sejdiu. Sokol Haliti, the president of the Vitisë community, was present at the event.
He stated, “Smirës së Vitisë, today returned to bronze as a hero Mirali Sejdiu. On the 27th anniversary of his fall for freedom, it was an honor for me, alongside the family of the hero Mirali Sejdiu, with his fellow fighters, with mayor Sokol Haliti, and with many citizens of Vitisë and compatriots from the diaspora, to experience his life and ideal.”
Haliti added that Mirali Sejdiu was “more than a fighter. He was a continuation of efforts.” The event commemorated 27 years since Sejdiu’s death while fighting for freedom.
Osmani’s visit marked her first time in the Republic of Kosovo, and she joined community leaders and diaspora members in honoring Sejdiu’s legacy.
