Who are the candidates aiming for the position of State Prosecutor?

Three prosecutors affiliated with the Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo are among the five individuals currently vying for the highly competitive role of State Prosecutor. Several of these candidates have publicly discussed their motivations for applying for the significant position during media appearances. However, the Prosecutorial Council of Kosovo (KPK) has provided an update clarifying the procedural status of the selection process.

The Council stated that the designated evaluation panel has not yet convened to formally review the submitted applications. Although the official application period for the State Prosecutor competition concluded on June 10, the KPK indicated it remains prepared to receive and process any supplementary applications that may arrive via postal mail, ensuring the continuation of the review process. In response to inquiries from Dukagjini television regarding the volume of submissions from their institution, the Council declined to disclose the specific number of applications received.

They reiterated that the primary procedural hurdle remains the convening of the evaluation panel. The Council confirmed that, as of the reporting time, the panel had not yet met to begin assessing the qualifications of the candidates for the state prosecutor position. This ongoing evaluation process is critical for determining the next prosecutor in the state judiciary structure.

The KPK continues to manage the selection process according to established protocols, awaiting the necessary administrative steps before making further determinations.
