Albania complains to Sorensen about the statement of the Serbian minister: She spoke out what she thinks Vučić

The Ambassador of Kosovo in Brussels, Agron Bajrami, reported that she discussed the concerns surrounding a declaration made by a Serbian minister with the EU envoy, Peter Sorensen. According to Bajrami, the minister’s remarks reportedly articulated the views of the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vučić. In her statement, Bajrami noted, “I officially addressed the envoy Sorensen regarding the alarming statement of a Serbian minister who openly supports the ethnic cleansing of Albanians in Kosovo.

The Serbian minister said what the Serbian President thinks—she simply shouldn’t have said it out loud, while he is now trying to control the damage.”

Bajrami further emphasized that she views such public statements and the associated conduct of Serbian officials as constituting a clear breach of the 2023 Brussels Agreement. She added that the preamble to the agreement commits the involved parties to working towards overcoming past legacies. The discussion with Sorensen centered on the implications of the minister’s comments.

The core of the concern is that the public nature of the declaration, which allegedly endorses actions detrimental to the Albanian community in Kosovo, undermines the established diplomatic framework. Bajrami’s intervention aimed to bring the gravity of the minister’s statements to the attention of the European Union representative, stressing that the rhetoric contradicts the spirit and letter of the recent agreements intended to stabilize relations between the parties.
