Concerns regarding the quality of drinking water have emerged ahead of the new academic year at the “Pavarësia” school in Pristina. Local residents have raised alarms about the water supply, citing recurring water quality issues experienced in the area over recent autumn months. In response to these community concerns, Halil Brahaj, the director of the “Pavarësia” school, addressed the situation.
Brahaj stated that the institution has not received any official notification advising that the water is unsafe for consumption. He further noted that a review of the Pristina Water Utility website did not list the water in the neighborhood as unusable. Despite this, Brahaj confirmed that the school has proactively contacted the Pristina Water Utility.
This outreach followed the receipt of unofficial information suggesting an elevated level of manganese in the local water supply. The director emphasized that the basis for the school’s inquiry was “unofficial information” regarding the water quality. While the school leadership points to the lack of official advisories, the persistent community concerns regarding the water necessitate the investigation into the water’s safety for the students and staff at the school.
The dialogue between residents, the school administration, and the utility provider highlights ongoing scrutiny over the reliability of the public water source.
