The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Mitrovica, collaborating with Kosovo Customs and the Kosovo Police – Mitrovica-South Autocriminal Investigation Unit, conducted inspections across various locations in Vushtrri. These actions formed part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged falsification of documents associated with the import and customs clearance of vehicles originating from South Korea. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the purpose of the inspections was to secure material evidence pertinent to the criminal proceedings against the individuals under investigation.
The official notice detailed that “Investigative actions were undertaken in connection with suspicions based on the allegation that the defendants, with intent, jointly and continuously falsified and used public documents during the import and customs clearance procedure for vehicles.”
The investigation focuses on activities within the south region, specifically targeting potential irregularities in the trade process. The joint effort involving law enforcement and customs authorities in Vushtrri aims to establish the full scope of the alleged criminal activity. The preliminary findings suggest that the suspects are suspected of systematically manipulating official paperwork to facilitate the entry of vehicles, thereby undermining standard customs protocols.
The authorities continue their efforts to gather evidence regarding the scale and nature of the document fraud.
