Mimoza Musa: The Higher Education Law, in service of universities

Mimoza Musa Argues New Higher Education Law Benefits Albanian Universities

Tirana – VLEN Member of Parliament, Mimoza Musa, has stated that the recently enacted Higher Education Law primarily serves the interests of Albanian universities, without diminishing the role of higher education institutions overall. Musa emphasized revisions within the law that prioritize increased student involvement. Speaking about the changes, Musa highlighted the incorporation of student representatives into governing bodies across Albanian universities and within the national council.

This adjustment aims to facilitate direct student participation in key decision-making processes. Furthermore, Musa noted a shift in project and scientific publication allocation. The law now incorporates a system that considers the specific academic units and research strengths of each university, moving away from a uniform approach.

A significant addition to the framework is the inclusion of the ‘Scorpus’ database. Mimoza Musa’s comments reflect a focus on adapting the legislation to better support the diverse needs and capabilities of individual universities within the Albanian higher education system.
