Murati: The Albanian Parliament is more interested in a coalition with the LDK than with the PDK

Political science lecturer Valon Murati has offered an assessment regarding the strategic political alignment of Albin Kurti, the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement. Speaking on Five në TV Dukagjini, Murati posited that Kurti’s current political interests suggest a greater inclination toward forming a governing coalition with the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) compared to partnering with the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK). Murati’s analysis suggests that, based on his reading of Kurti’s political strategy, entering a coalition with the PDK would likely undermine his broader political objectives.

He further analyzed the potential dynamics of a partnership between LVV and LDK, predicting that in such an arrangement, the LDK would emerge as the most politically vulnerable entity. According to Murati, the core of his assessment rests on understanding Kurti’s political calculations. He stated that, from his perspective, Kurti’s political thinking indicates that a coalition with the PDK would compromise his political standing.

Instead, he believes Kurti is significantly more invested in a potential coalition with the LDK, even if achieving that alliance necessitates a complete restructuring of the existing political formation. Murati concluded by emphasizing that the political calculus points away from the PDK partnership, suggesting that the LDK offers a more strategically aligned path for the Vetëvendosje Movement’s political ambitions.
