The Municipality of Mitrovica has initiated efforts to clear the public area situated between Lekë Dukagjini and Mursel Igrishta streets, an area previously known as “DESI.” According to a municipal announcement, these actions are being carried out by the Inspection Directorate at the request of the Education Directorate. The stated objective is to prepare the necessary conditions for the development of a project to construct a shopping arcade. Mujë Igrishta, the Director of the Inspection Directorate, confirmed that the process of clearing the public space will continue over the next few days.
“The process of clearing the public spaces will continue in the coming days,” Igrishta stated, as reported by the Municipality. While the municipality has not released further details concerning the project’s timeline or its estimated financial value, the clearing initiative marks a significant step for urban redevelopment in the area. The coordinated effort between different municipal departments, specifically involving the Inspection Directorate and the Education Directorate, aims to revitalize this central public space into a commercial hub.
The ongoing work suggests a phased approach to transforming the designated area.
