Solution found for connecting villages to the Kërçovë–Ohër highway

The Minister of Transport, Nikollovski, announced that a comprehensive solution has been developed to guarantee direct connectivity for all villages served by the new Kërçovë – Ohër highway. Nikollovski indicated that this level of connectivity was not accounted for in the initial project scope, necessitating the implementation of a parallel road system. Furthermore, the necessary permissions have been secured, as an agreement was reached with the UNESCO commission, which granted approval for the planned construction works.

To achieve this integration, the plan includes the construction of both parallel roads and local access routes spanning a total of 18 kilometers. This infrastructure is designed to ensure that the villages situated on either side of the main highway maintain reliable access, preventing isolation from the major urban centers of Strugë, Ohër, and Kërçovë. The Minister emphasized the necessity of this expansion, noting that previous planning did not adequately address the needs of outlying communities.

The newly found solution addresses this gap, ensuring that the benefits of the major highway development extend comprehensively to the local population. The successful execution of these parallel and local roads represents a significant upgrade to regional transport links, solidifying connectivity for numerous villages across the corridor.
