Trump is presented with a luxurious ring with 321 diamonds

The Belgian diamond industry presented President Donald Trump with a highly elaborate and luxurious gift: an 18-karat gold ring designed to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence. The piece, titled “Freedom 250,” is richly adorned with numerous gemstones, including 321 diamonds, 56 sapphires, 13 emeralds, and six rubies. The presentation occurred during a ceremony in Brussels, with the ring initially given to the US ambassador to Belgium, Bill White, for transmission to the American leader.

The jewelry piece draws inspiration from Super Bowl championship rings and incorporates several American symbols. Specific engravings include the years 1776 and 2026, alongside the numbers 45 and 47, which reportedly reference presidential terms. An eagle featuring a ruby shield and an emerald olive branch is also featured, while the inside bears the inscription, “Crafted in Antwerp for Donald John Trump.”

This gesture comes shortly after the Belgian diamond sector benefited from the removal of US tariffs on polished diamond imports, a development considered significant for Antwerp’s export market.

Although representatives from the Antwerp World Diamond Centre have denied direct lobbying efforts with the US administration, the gift has drawn attention. While the estimated value of the luxurious ring falls between $25,000 and $35,000, US ethics experts have raised questions regarding the acceptance of such high-value items by the presidency. They noted that accepting the piece may conflict with established White House protocols regarding the receipt of valuable gifts for Trump.
