An official in Kaçanik has been arrested by the Kosovo Police following an investigation into suspected abuse of position and official authority. According to the police announcement, the investigation was initiated after authorities received information detailing alleged misconduct by the suspect. The allegations suggest that the official exploited his professional duties during the building permit process.
Specifically, it is claimed that the individual directed a citizen to obtain supplementary documents through a private geodetic company, an arrangement for which the official allegedly received payment exceeding 600 euros. Following the successful acquisition of the building permit, the citizen discovered that the documentation for which payment had been made was not included in the official file. This discrepancy prompted the citizen to report the matter to the police.
Units from the Directorate for Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption subsequently took over the case. The police action confirms that the individual was formally arrested in connection with these allegations of misconduct. The investigation continues to examine the extent of the alleged abuse of authority and the procedural irregularities surrounding the building permit issuance.
