Violence in schools and aggressive children, three ministers with a plan to identify causes and solve problems

Domestic violence is frequently identified as a significant contributor to peer violence within schools. During the period of January 1 to May 28 of this year, the Minister of Interior, Pançe Toshkovski, reported that 768 criminal acts of domestic violence were recorded. This figure marks a substantial 67% increase when compared to the 460 cases reported during the same period last year.

Toshkovski also presented troubling statistics regarding the escalation of peer violence. In the current year, 93 incidents of such violence were documented across 64 schools, an increase from the 81 incidents recorded the previous year. Furthermore, data concerning child abuse indicated a notable rise.

The number of incidents involving violence against children more than doubled, rising from 7 to 15 cases. Specifically, the criminal act of abusing a child under 15 years old was recorded six times this year, compared to only one case in the preceding year. These figures highlight escalating concerns regarding domestic instability and physical aggression within educational settings.
